Satay Gallery

From the earliest time, Kajang has been noted for its satay or skewered meat barbecued over a charcoal grill dip in a special groundnut sauce... Some claimed that it is the sauce that make a good satay meal...

Open on March 26, 2009, the gallery is within the mini-complex located next to the Medan Sate Kajang and displays artefacts, information panels, audio visual guides and dioramas tracing the history of satay in Kajang back to 1917... Satay was introduced by one Tasmin Sakiban from Java, Indonesia... Tasmin arrived in Kajang in 1914 via Sungai Langat and pioneered the satay business in 1917... There are many satay stalls in Kajang now but the most famous is Sate Hj Samuri who has successfully franchised the satay business with outlets in Kajang, Putrajaya, Subang, Sungai Buloh and Senawang... The wife of Hj Samuri is a direct descendent of Tasmin, the pioneer of Kajang satay.

This gallery is normally take 30mins for visitation.
